Off to Skateland

Taking a little spin to Skateland today, to see some old rink labels from this eBay dealer. Most appear to be dated from the 1940s to the 60s, and were originally designed as advertising labels to cover skate cases, much like luggage labels. Many more where they came from...

I live in Bklyn and it was a sad day when they closed Empire it was opened in 1941 and it closed in April of 2007..so many places in NYC we had Skate Key in the Bronx and of Course the Legendary Roxy/10-18 Tuesday night Roller skating and you would be skating next with numerous amounts of Famous people.. Well Empire was sold for 4.5 million dollars how's that for Gentrification.. It was in the Famous Ebbets Feild Garage. Such great memories...
